Tura, May 27: In light of cyclonic storm, the Deputy Commissioner of East Garo Hills District, Meghalaya, has announced the immediate closure of all schools and colleges on May 28, 2024. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall in the district over the next 24 hours.
This precautionary measure are to safeguard students and school staff from severe weather conditions, including heavy rains, strong winds, and potential flooding. All educational institutions, including government, private, and government-aided establishments, are directed to suspend activities and remain closed.
The district authorities will continuously monitor the situation and provide necessary updates. The order takes effect immediately and will remain in force until further notice.
