Shillong, Mar 16: In view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the model code of conduct has come into effect. The district administration of East Khasi Hills has imposed section 144 CrPC prohibiting agitational programme by individual or organisations, carrying of cash over Rs. 50,000/- and restriction on putting of banners, posters, hoardings, etc.
An order issued by District Election Officer u/s 144 CrPC has prohibited all contesting candidates or their agents or political parties on prevention of defacement.
Which reads as,
- No wall writing, pasting of posters/papers or defacement in any other form. or erecting/displaying of cut-outs, hoardings, banners etc. shall be permitted on any public property/public premises.
- No Political Parties or Candidates will be allowed to put up banners on all roads/thoroughfares.

- No Election meeting would be allowed without taking permission from the Office of the undersigned and subsequently local headmen regarding the venue of the meeting.
- P.A. System will be allowed to be used between 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
- In case of P.A System/Loud speakers which are used without permission from the undersigned the same would be seized immediately by the local authorities.
- No rallies and procession will be allowed without the permission from the undersigned.
