Security forces intensify operations against Ulfa-I ahead of I-Day

Must read

Dibrugarh, July 30: Ahead of Independence Day, security forces have intensified operations against Ulfa-I, conducting anti-sabotage checks across critical installations and public spaces in the city.

A source revealed that a group of Ulfa-I cadres had infiltrated Assam through the Assam-Arunachal border and taken refuge in a safe area, with plans to target important installations in Upper Assam.

Confirming the heightened measures, Dibrugarh SSP Rakesh Reddy said, “We have intensified anti-insurgency operations against the proscribed groups. Naka checking, area domination, search operations, and pick-ups of those linked with Ulfa-I are being carried out regularly. We are taking all possible measures to thwart any kind of eventualities. We have alerted our intelligence sources and urged the public to cooperate with us.”

Security agencies remain on high alert, mindful of Ulfa-I’s past attempts to disrupt Independence Day activities.
