Nongpoh, Aug 8: Police on Thursday apprehended two drug peddlers with heroin from a petrol pump in Ri Bhoi District.
Based on credible source information, Ri Bhoi police apprehended the two drug traffickers at around 3:45pm at Shanbangla Petrol Pump. During the search of their vehicle (scooty), bearing registration number ML 05 T 2927, police seized 4 soap cases containing heroin.
The total weight of the heroin was found to be 46.14 gm.
The arrested persons have been identified as Peter Lamare (31) and Vikash Masih (29), both from Punjabi Lane of East Khasi Hills District.
According to police, they were coming from Guwahati and planned to sell the drug in Shillong. They also confessed that they are addicted to drugs and were in debt. They decided to purchase the drugs from Guwahati and sell in Shillong to clear their debt.
A case is being registered and investigation is on to trace the forward and backward linkages.
