Jowai, Jan 23: Social Welfare Minister and Khliehriat legislator, Kyrmen Shylla, on Sunday inaugurated the Khnap Thang-bru or the eco friendly crematorium of Seiñraij Khlieh Myntriang, East Jaiñtia Hills in the presence of former MLA, Justine Dkhar, JHADC MDC, Lomris Lyngdoh, amongst others.
Joining Roy Dkhar of Seiñ Raij Khlieh Myntriang informed that the initiative for constructing the crematorium began in 2008 and an amount of Rs 12 lakh was received from Justine Dkhar and, thus, the construction began 2018, and further amount of Rs. 7 lakh by Kyrmen Shylla and Rs 1 lakh by the MDC Lomris Lyngdoh by given.
The construction of the approach road and the Washroom was constructed with the help from the office of the BDO.
Speaking on the occasion, Kyrmen Shylla informed about the number of crematorium in the Constituency and those which are under construction and lauded the efforts of various Seiñraij in Jaiñtia Hills for constructing the crematoriums which had helped the people in many folds.
The Minister also announced an assistance of Rs. 2.50 lakh towards the Seiñraij Khlieh Myntriang, to further develop the crematorium and its surroundings.
The meeting was presided over by Dawan-oo Dkhar, Vice President Seiñ Raij Shnong Khlieh Myntriang, while others who spoke were M. Biam, General Secretary Seiñ Khihlang, and L. Shylla Vice President of Raij Tuber.
