Sikkim proposes seven private universities, introduces bills in Assembly

Gangtok, Feb 12: Education Minister Kunga Nima Lepcha on Monday tabled bills for establishment of seven private universities in various parts of Sikkim. These proposed universities offer courses in multiple disciplines including medical science, information technology, management, skill development and academics.

The universities proposed as per the bills are Orchid University (Mangan district), Gurukul Vidhyapeeth University (Melli) Matrix Skilltech University (Geyzing), Duke International University, Sikkim Medical Science University (Namchi), Management & Information Technology University (Melli), and Shri Rukmani Dwarkadish University of Science & Technology (near Gangtok).

Discussions and voting on these seven bills are scheduled in the next Assembly session.
