Shillong, Jan 24: Social Welfare Minister Paul Lyngdoh, provided an update on Wednesday regarding the appointment of the Meghalaya State Women Commission Chairperson stating that the appointment process has been extended as an advertisement was issued, and they anticipate concluding the process by the end of January.
Lyngdoh said that the extension is to welcome applications from individuals not initially named by the search committee, ensuring that everyone has an opportunity to apply for the position.
When questioned about the decision to extend the advertisement despite having several names, Lyngdoh explained that it aims to accommodate individuals who consider themselves suitable for the post but were not initially included by the search committee, a step taken to maintain fairness and inclusivity in the selection process.
Responding to queries about the number of names the government is seeking, Lyngdoh mentioned that a deadline was initially set for January 20.
The first week of February will see a review, during which the government will consider recommendations from the search committee and individual applications to finalise the appointment process, the Minister stated.
