Ampati, Oct 2: On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, District Sports Office, South West Garo Hills, organized a “Swacchta he Seva” run, aimed at promoting cleanliness and a healthy lifestyle. The event took place on Monday at Ampati, where participants demonstrated their commitment to both the principles of Mahatma Gandhi and physical fitness.
The event commenced with a 10 km marathon that was flagged off from the Students Field in Ampati by the District Sports Officer of South West Garo Hills, SM Marak.
The competition witnessed exceptional performances by both boys and girls, showcasing their athletic prowess and dedication. The top three winners among the boys were:
1st Place: Kanen M Sangma of Bongpara village
2nd Place: Bismadev Hajong of Marpara village
3rd Place: Lichang Sangma of Rangsakona village
In the girls’ category, the following athletes secured the top three positions:
1st Place: Rikmatchi Momin of Asinagre village
2nd Place: Ringsechimik G Sangma of Chigitchakgre village
3rd Place: Tulsi G Momin of Bagmara village
The participants not only displayed their competitive spirit but also sent a powerful message about the significance of cleanliness, health, and well-being in the society. This event aligns with the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi, emphasizing the importance of cleanliness and physical fitness in one’s daily life.
