Stolen letter pad targets Rongara-Siju MLA in recruitment controversy

Must read

Tura, Jan 4: A stolen letter pad of the government allotted to NPP MLA from Rongara-Siju, Rakkam A Sangma, has been found to have been used to put up names of candidates for recommendation to government posts in South Garo Hills district.

The issue has erupted into a controversy because it seems to show that the MLA had recommended four names of candidates for Grade-IV posts, 2 candidates for Forest Guard, 2 candidates for LDA, 1 candidate for plumber, 1 candidate for Lab assistant and 1 lady candidate for Gram Sevika.

However, all the names of the so called candidates recommended by the MLA and even the posts mentioned in the letter pad have now been found to be fake.

“It is totally fake and even the names in the letter pad do not tally with the result sheet. It only shows that some disgruntled elements with a political angle tried to damage my public image. I have not recommended any names before or even now. This evidence will prove my adversaries wrong,” confidently mentioned Sangma.

Rakkam Sangma is currently the Chairman of the Meghalaya State Health Advisory Board.

The attempt to tarnish the MLA’s name by using one of his letter pads failed after the conspirators did not even get the names of the candidates who appeared some of the exams correctly.

The two names of candidates for the LDA posts that are mentioned in the fake letter pad as recommended by the MLA are not even found in the final result sheet of the DSC which released the list of 26 successful candidates on December 23rd.In the case of the Grade IV posts where once again the fake letter pad mentions four recommended names, the written result is not yet out and viva voce is still to be conducted.

The conspirators were caught on another wrong foot after they claimed in the letterpad that names were recommended for posts of forest guards, LDA, plumber, lab assistant and a Gram Sevika.

“Gram Sevika, Lab Assistant, Forest Guard, Plumber posts were not advertised and nor has DSC conducted any such exam,” revealed the MLA as he displayed the official advertisement of the DSC, Baghmara, which called for exam and viva voice only for filling up the posts of LDA, Clerk (DIET), Gram Sevak (not Gram Sevika), Soil and Water Conservation Demonstrator, Sectional Assistant, Vaccinator, Grade IV, Game Watcher and Drivers positions.

Suspicion of self-styled activist

The hand of a so-called student social activist in the spreading of the fake social media post is not being ruled out after he had a fall out with the Rongara-Siju legislator over an alleged financial demand, recently.

Supporters of the MLA allege that this self-styled leader who claims to be a social activist had demanded Rs. 50,000 which was turned down.
