Williamnagar, Oct 27: The saying “Make hay while the sun shines” appears to be in need of a colourful change in today’s new and vibrant scenario where the mantra seems to be “make the most of the opportunity, hail or thunder”.
Well, that’s exactly what a handful of thieves acknowledged in East Garo Hills. They drove away a car in the thick of the storm on Monday night.
Cyclone Sitrang was supposed to keep people indoors, sealed and embedded, to weather the storm that was lashing Garo Hills with a devastating effect.
Well, almost everyone adhered to the weather warning, except for a select few with greasy hands.
Car owner Dolrich Mrong Marak of Williamnagar was one among thousands who had adhered to the weather warnings.
Hoping to ride out the storm he remained indoors, while his maruti car was parked just outside the house in Kusimkolgre.
But the storm breakers had other plans.
They broke through the car’s security system and by the time the storm dissipated at around 3 AM of Tuesday, the thieves were cruising through the highway.
Police are now on the lookout for the gang to recover the vehicle.
