Shillong, Sept 2: The Shillong Traffic Police (STP) has requested drivers, especially of commercial vehicle, not to place stones behind their vehicle tyres while parking and leave it there. In case anyone is found doing that, the STP has warned of action as per law against the owner/driver of such vehicles.
In a press statement, Superintendent of Police (Traffic), East Khasi Hills, Shailendra Bamaniya said it has been observed that many vehicles, especially commercial vehicles are in the habit of placing boulder stones on their car tyres while parking. Later, such stones are not removed, which invariably becomes vulnerable and hazardous to other road users/pedestrians leading to accidents. Besides, it also causes obstruction to the free flow of vehicular traffic which is an offence under the Motor Vehicle Act.
He has requested that if anyone is seen involving in such acts and violating the order, people may inform the matter along with the details of the vehicle to the Police Control Room, Shillong by dialing 100 / 0364-2215427 / 0364-2222277 or sending a WhatsApp message on 60091-96479 for taking necessary action.
In view of the above, the Shillong Traffic Police (STP) has requested drivers to avoid such negligence for the safety of other road users/pedestrians.
