Shillong, July 29: As part of Swarnim Vijay Varsh celebrations to commemorate 50 years of India’s magnificent victory over Pakistan in 1971, the Swarnim Vijay Mashaal was received by Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma at Polo Ground, Shillong on Thursday.

The Mashaal which commenced its journey from National War Memorial, New Delhi on December 16, 2020, entered Meghalaya on July 27, 2021 and was handed over to the Chief Minister at Polo Ground, Shillong.
To honour the valour and sacrifice of Indian Armed Forces in 1971 Indo- Pak War and to rejoice in the Liberation of Bangladesh, an impressive event was organized at Polo Ground. The event was attended by prominent Civil Dignitaries of Meghalaya, Senior Military and Police Officials and Ex-Servicemen of Meghalaya.
Addressing the gathering, Sangma said, “We salute the Martyrs, who made supreme sacrifice for the Country and we must continue to respect the Armed Forces for their devotion and dedication towards the Nation.”
He also emphasized that youth must take inspiration from this and choose the right path to serve the Nation.
The event echoed a sense of pride amongst the people who attended the ceremony.
