Nongpoh, July 26: The representatives of the Synjuk Ki Rangbah Shnong, Nongkhrah Nonglyngdoh on Monday threatened to take back the land which they had freely given to the government of Meghalaya for the construction of the Polytechnic Centre at Nongkhrah village near Nongpoh in Ri Bhoi District.
The Synjuk Ki Rangbah Shnong made the announcement after the lapse of two week deadline served to the authority concerned to reply on the abandoned construction of the Polytechnic Centre, which was started in 2018 but could not be completed till date with reasons best known to the authority concerned.
Before issuing the warning, the Synjuk Ki Rangbah Shnong Nongkhrah Nonglyngdoh also inspected the site on Monday, led by LS Pamshong, Chairman, Cyril Maring the Secretary, Sensi Lyngdoh, the Lyngdoh Raid among others.
Mentionably, the Polytechnic Project was sanctioned at Nongkhrah village in 2018 at a sanctioned amount of Rs. 7 crore with the target to complete the institute within 24 months. But, after the release of the first phase amount of Rs. 2 crore, the project was allegedly abandoned without being completed by the contractor, and has been in the same state for almost five years from now.
After the inspection, the representatives met the Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi District, Arpit Upadhyaya, for his intervention in addressing the issues and urged upon him to take note of this pending project.
