Meghalaya deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong and the minister in charge of the home department informed that the district with the maximum number of crimes registered from 2020 to 2023 is East Khasi Hills District, with a total of 5,196 cases.
The anti-narcotic task force (ANTF) in South West Khasi Hills (SWKH) District has allegedly failed to make any arrest against drug traffickers operating in the district.
Meghalaya Police on Monday afternoon arrested two alleged drug dealers identified as M. Tuanbiaklian Guite, (32) and Imliakum Longkumer, (40) and seized 2.738 kg of heroin worth Rs 10 crore (approx) in the international market.
It is also suspected that these drug peddlers were sourcing drugs from distributors based in neighbouring States and have accumulated lot of wealth by peddling drugs.
