Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday announced that his council of ministers has approved a policy allowing shops and business establishments to operate 24 hours a day in Guwahati, Dibrugarh and Silchar.
Following recommendations given by the Justice Biplab Sarma committee on Clause 6 of the Assam Accord, the Assam cabinet on Wednesday decided to implement 57 of the 67 recommendations.
The Assam cabinet on Friday evening decided to recommend to the Central Government to withdraw Disturbed Areas Act and Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from the entire State.
