The Returning Officer to 56-Gambegre (ST) Legislative Assembly Constituency has issued an Order under Section 163 of the BNSS prohibiting all the candidates and political parties from election campaigning exercises namely, public meetings, rallies, processions, etc during the period of 48 hours ending with the hour fixed for the close of poll during the electioneering exercises to 56-Gambegre (ST) Constituency (Bye- Elections to Legislative Assembly Constituency 2024).
The National People’s Party (NPP) expressed optimism about winning the Gambegre bye-poll, citing a trend in which ruling parties often secure victories in bye-elections. NPP leader and Cabinet Minister A.T. Mondal emphasized the distinction between general elections and bye-elections, stating that the latter tend to favor the incumbent government.
The National People’s Party (NPP) leader and cabinet minister Rakkam A Sangma on Thursday expressed confidence that his party will win the upcoming Gambegre bye-election with a “record victory margin” even as he claimed that the BJP’s decision to join the fray will be a huge setback to the opposition Congress.
Nipon Hajong, ADC Election (WGH) and Returning Officer (RO) for the Gambegre bye-election, announced that four candidates represent recognized political parties, while two are running as independents.
