Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar has emphasized that the government is committed to resolving the long-pending issue of relocating the residents of Harijan Colony, also known as Them Iew Mawlong, without further delay, even as government has agreed to provide HPC more time.
Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home Prestone Tynsong on Tuesday said the government will be meeting within this week to take a call on the Harijan Panchayat Committee’s (HPC) request for more time to respond to the proposal for relocation of 342 families from Them Iew Mawlong or Harijan colony.

The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) expressed resentment on Monday after RTI findings revealed that out of the 342 families initially identified for relocation from the Them Metor (Harijan Colony) at Themïewmawlong, Shillong, only 194 are employees of the Shillong Municipal Board (SMB).
This is the third suspect to be arrested following the blast on March 9 at the Syndicate Bus Station near Them Mator (Harijan Colony) in which one person reported to have sustained minor injury.
