Security forces have been deployed in affected areas of the state and additional forces have also been called to bring back peace in the state

Hundreds of individuals on Wednesday defied the curfew in Manipur's Bishnupur district and marched towards the heavily fortified security barricade, which has been strategically positioned between the Kuki-majority Churachandpur and Meitei-majority Bishnupur districts.

Churachandpur Superintendent of Police Karthik Malladi said on Tuesday that additional forces have been deployed in the disturbed areas of the district to thwart any kinds of anti-social activities

KIM Information and Publicity Secretary, Janghaolun Haokip said  that besides the compelling evacuation of the people, all the Kuki settlements had been looted, vandalized, and torched by the Meitei.

The 10 evacuated families were taken 27 kilometres away to Motbung in Kangpokpi district, in the hills inhabited by Kuki and other tribal people.

"To avoid punishment from the school, three girls cooked up a story and told that they were among the group of 20 kidnapped students by masked men on their way to school," a police official said.

According to reports, the incident took place at the Khuga Tampak area under Churachandpur police station in Manipur.

According to official sources within the Army and police, the clash erupted in the early hours of the morning at Thowai village, situated near Litan in Ukhrul district.
