The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has assured to constitute a special committee to take up issues relating to the alleged non-inclusion of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) in the Sixth Schedule to the Constitution of India.

The proscribed Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) has demanded the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) to immediately scrap its recent notification to reclassify Majai as a ‘raid’.
The state government has made tribe certificate mandatory for areas under the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) in regards to the issuance of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes certificate in Meghalaya.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, KHADC Deputy Chief Executive member PN Syiem said that the decision was taken at a meeting convened by the KHADC with the members of the different clans and traditional heads following a lot of debate on the Scheduled Tribe issue and the role of the tribal clans.
