As per source, an Anti-CAA rally was organised by the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) in the daytime and it is suspected that some criminal elements may have taken advantage of the situation leading to the death of the two non-tribals.
The construction led by KSU’s Laban circle is a way of protest to send a message to the government that they would not allow any ‘illegal’ non-tribal to settle in the area.
The Khasi Students Union of the Nongpoh Circle met Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ri Bhoi, Arpit Upadhyay on Monday to apprise him of the complaints regarding the overcharging of school textbooks by handful of bookstores in Ïew Mawlong, Nongpoh.
