In a joint operation, Assam Rifles and Manipur police commandos arrested one alleged abductor and rescued a kidnapped youth from Manipur's Thoubal district.
The Manipur police on Thursday not only claimed that “members of Arambai Tenggol” were involved in the “attempt” on the life of a senior police officer and intimidating his family members on the evening of February 27 in Imphal but also accused the Meitei radical group of “engaging in many anti-social activities”.
According to reports, seven Manipur Police trainees, belonging to different ethnic groups, engaged in verbal abuse over some petty matter during dinner time on Saturday night, which snowballed into a physical scuffle.
This incident took place shortly after two Manipur Police commandos lost their lives, and two others suffered gunshot wounds in an attack by heavily armed militants in Moreh, a commercial town near the Myanmar border.
