Earlier, Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma said that the informal meeting is part of the exercise and process to discuss the matter to help both States get into a better understanding.

He emphasised that PA Sangma was a man who was far beyond what met the eye, and what people read about him and what he did. He talked about the ethics, values and principles taught to them by the late leader, who was also the former Speaker of Lok Sabha, and that these will live on beyond his and their life time.
"There is no new outfit; they are merely self-proclaimed members. We have gathered sufficient intelligence, and appropriate action has already been taken. All individuals involved have been apprehended," CM Sangma said on the sidelines of an event on Thursday.
Dismissing any notion of a link between tourism and the Inner Line Permit (ILP), Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma emphasised the distinct nature of these two subjects while addressing concerns about illegal immigration in the state.
The Chief Minister, alongside Speaker of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Thomas A. Sangma and State Cabinet Ministers, called on PM Modi in New Delhi on Tuesday and submitted a memorandum to the latter, seeking his intervention on matters such as ILP, externally funded projects, inclusion of inclusion of Khasi and Garo Language in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution and Assam – Meghalaya border dispute, among others
Talking to reporters after meeting the PM Modi in New Delhi, Sangma said the Prime Minister was ‘very elated’ to hear about Meghalaya ‘lifecycle approach’ model, wherein holistic interventions are being made to ensure that at every stage in the child's life, the government play its role in ensuring that the necessary support is given.
After the meeting, CM Sangma said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji heard our concerns, and assured to look into it. We thank him for giving us this opportunity.”
Talking to reporters on Friday, he said he has taken up the matter with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and was hopeful of resolving the issue very soon.
