Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday said that the government will first verify the reports about the anti-missionary school campaign in neighbouring Assam before taking up the matter with their counterparts in Dispur, and at the same time, assured safety and security of the people residing along the inter-state border.

In a threat to Christian missionary schools across Assam, a Hindu radical group - Sanmilito Sanatan Samaj started poster campaigning in Guwahati and other parts of the state giving an ultimatum to missionaries to remove iconography and chapels from premises of missionary schools and asking them not to turn educational institutions into a religious affair. 

The school authority has informed the matter to the Cinnamara police outpost about the poster pasted on Friday night and urged the police to look into the matter and take necessary action.
