Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, today declared that Northeast India will be a cornerstone of the nation’s clean energy revolution, describing the region as “India’s Ashtalakshmi of Green Power”. His remarks came during the ministerial session “Green Northeast: Advancing Renewable Energy for Sashakt Bharat” at the Rising North East Investors Summit 2025, held in New Delhi.

This was informed by Comingone Ymbon, the Minister in-charge for Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Government of Meghalaya, to Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, during a meeting to discuss critical initiatives aimed at enhancing food security and service delivery in the state today.

The Modi-led government has constituted a committee headed by former President of India Ram Nath Kovind in order to explore the possibility of ‘One Nation, One Election’, sources said on Friday. This report of the committee comes a day after Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said that the government has convened a special session of Parliament for five days between September 18 and 22.
