Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home (Police) Prestone Tynsong on Tuesday revealed that the state government has written a letter to the Ministry of Home Affairs requesting the need to allow fencing to be constructed at zero line of the international border with Bangladesh.
Speaking to reporters, Tynsong said that allegations made in an affidavit filed before the Meghalaya High Court that the alignment for the bypass could not be finalised due to objections raised by local people is wrong.
Speaking to reporters, Tynsong said, “Therefore, we are still inviting them (HNLC) on behalf of the state government to please not discontinue the peace talks.”
Taking to Facebook, HNLC General Secretary cum publicity secretary, Saiñkupar Nongtraw wrote that the HNLC accepted the proposal of the Deputy Chief Minister to meet but the venue will be set up by the Council.
Meghalaya government on Friday approved the constitution of the State Human Development Council (SHDC) for implementation of the Multisectoral Project for Adolescent Wellbeing, Empowerment and Resilience (MPOWER) in the state.
The Deputy Chief Minister incharge PWD (Roads), Prestone Tynsong informed on Monday that work orders for package - 1, 2, and 4 of the Shillong-Dawki road have been issued and work is set to resume shortly.
The Meghalaya government on Wednesday laid the foundation of three roads leading to the New Shillong Township (NST) which include Bellafonte-NST (estimated project cost Rs. 49 crores), Diengpasoh Road to Shillong Bypass (cost Rs. 55 crores), and Bribah Mawpat-NST (cost Rs. 27-49 crores).
