The Government of Meghalaya convened a meeting on Saturday through the office of the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills District to discuss the proposal for establishing an 'Integrated Solid Waste Management Facility' in Nonghali. Stakeholders from adjoining districts, including East Khasi Hills, West Jaintia Hills, and Ri-Bhoi were present.

In a letter submitted to the DC RM Kurbah on October 3, the aggrieved villagers said that many of them, who are living in the Mawryngkneng-Puriang village have parted portion of their land in 2007, wilfully to the government for the purpose of construction of four laning of the National Highway 44 and also, they were compensated for the land as valued by the government.
The order was passed by the district magistrate RM Kurbah after it had come to her notice that some organizations were planning to organize a Gau Dhwaj Sthapana Bharat yatra in Shillong on October 2 and that the organizers did not seek permission for carrying out the yatra.
