The bursting of the South Lhonak glacial lake swelled up the mighty Teesta River that washed away everything in its path on Wednesday morning as people ran for their lives, leaving everything behind.
Meanwhile, the Meghalaya government has activated the helpline number 1800-345-3644 for citizens of Meghalaya who may require assistance due to the natural calamity which occurred recently in the state of Sikkim.
According to the police, the victims, after spotting the mortar shell, tried to physically inspect it, which was carried to the area by the floodwaters when it exploded on Thursday night.
