Speaking to reporters on Friday, Dhar informed that the state government has deployed additional police personnel for protection in the Lapangap area, where community clashes have been reported in the last few days.

Chairman of the Regional Committee for West Jaintia Hills and deputy chief minister Sniawbhalang Dhar on Tuesday said that Lapangap village does not fall under the area of difference with Assam.
“He (Shangpliang) has expressed his keen interest to join the NPP. So let him first join the party (then we will discuss the ticket for the Shillong seat),” Dhar told reporters.
