The political landscape in Tripura is heating up as amid discussions between opposition parties, including TIPRA Motha, CPIM, and Congress, regarding a united front against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming assembly by-elections set for early next month, in an unexpected move, on Sunday the CPIM-led Left Front had unilaterally announced its candidates for both seats, while also extending an appeal to its opposition allies to join forces in "preserving democracy."

In a surprising turn of events, leaders from Tripura's three primary opposition parties - TIPRA Motha, CPI-M, and Congress - convened at the office of Opposition Leader Animesh Debbarma on Saturday to strategize a joint approach for the impending by-election, aiming to prevent the splitting of the anti-BJP vote.

These talks have come as a great relief for Pradyot Kishore, who faced significant criticism from both external sources and his own party supporters and leaders due to the delay by the MHA in declaring the interlocutor's name.

Chaudhury's statement came after the TIPRA Motha allegedly hinted that it could approach other Opposition parties if its talk with the BJP-led Centre over the greater Tipraland demand do not work out.

Debbarma, a senior leader of the TIPRA Motha Party also expressed apprehensions about the budget allocation for tribals, stating that if 39 percent of the budget is allocated to them, it would imply a reduction in funds for UR, SC, and OBC populations.
