The quality of water in the Myntdu River and its tributaries are severely affected and muddy due to erosion and depositing of debris in the important catchment areas of Myntdu River due to illegal mining and the earth moving from the ongoing road construction by the PWD Roads, Central Division, the District Magistrate of, B.S Sohliya, has promulgated Section 144 Cr.PC in the District.

The police acted on an information received late on Tuesday evening, that illegal stone mining was taking place at Wah Myntdu, at Treiongriang, Jowai despite the ban imposed by the National Green Tribunal (NGT)
