Imphal, May 22: In a major operation, security forces nabbed three active cadres of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party-Taibanganba (KCP-T) from Manipur’s Thoubal district on Tuesday.
According to police, they were involved in extortion activities. The arrested cadres were identified as Konjengbam Akash alias Pari Meitei (33), Nongthombam Amujao Singh (25), and Amom Somendro alias Kaleipung Meitei (28).
Two pistols with two magazines, 19 live rounds, Rs 30,000, three mobile phones, four demand letters and an Alto car have been recovered during the operation.
“After getting a tip off regarding the presence of some armed youths who are trying to extort money after serving demand letters. We have launched a joint operation in Khangjom village in Thoubal district and successfully held the insurgents,” said a police official.
