Shillong, Jan 8: The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi has held the PMAY(U) Award function through VC at the Conference Hall, Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Nongstoin, and at the Conference Hall, Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Nongpoh on January 1st.

The award function began with the laying of the foundation stone at six locations for the Light House Projects by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi at 11:00 AM on January 1st, which was followed by the felicitation of Best Performing States.

Following this was the PMAY (U) awards wherein Nagar Panchayats from 8 different states were selected for the Best Performing ‘Nagar Panchayat’ in which Nongpoh, Ri Bhoi District was selected. The award was presented by MoS (I/C) Housing and Urban Affairs, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri.

Later, the award for ‘Best House Construction’ was awarded to 88 beneficiaries from all over the country and from Meghalaya Three (3) of these awards was given to beneficiaries from Mairang, Hamida Kharmawlong, Marsha Wahlangsyllei of Nongstoin, and Lucybon Syngkli of Nongpoh which was presented by Secretary, Housing and Urban Affairs, Durga Shanker Mishra.
