Shillong, July 7: Three young men were killed in a tragic road accident on Monday night after the scooty they were riding crashed into a parked truck along the Shillong Bypass at Umroi in Meghalaya’s Ri-Bhoi district.
The accident occurred at around 8.30 pm near the football ground at Umroi, according to police.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the three youths were travelling on a scooty when it rammed into a truck parked on the roadside.

“The impact of the collision was severe. The victims sustained critical injuries and were rushed to hospital, where doctors declared them brought dead,” a police official said.
A team from the Khapmara Police Investigation Centre (PIC) rushed to the scene and launched an investigation into the incident.
Police identified the deceased as residents of Umden Umsaitprah.
Investigators are examining the circumstances that led to the crash, including whether poor visibility, speeding or other factors contributed to the accident. Further investigation is underway.
