Agartala, Oct 31: Trinamool Congrees (TMC) general secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Sunday slammed the Biplab Deb-led BJP government in Tripura for running a ‘dictatorship’.
While addressing a rally in Agartala, Abhishek Banerjee came down heavily on the Biplab Deb government for failing to fullfill the promises made by their party during 2018 election rally.
“We will fight and win against BJP’s oppressive regime. Due to misrule, the whole state is in chaos. In the name of development, BJP came into power in Tripura and didn’t do any developmental work for the people. The people have thought that BJP would bring change but in reality BJP failed to bring any changes in Tripura,” Banerjee said.

He also claimed that TMC will finish the Left and Right both in Tripura. “It will be a repeat of Bengal. The BJP virus has only one vaccine. Its name is Mamata Banerjee. The people of Tripura will have to give double dose — the first in the civic polls and the second in 2023 Assembly polls,” he asserted.
The top TMC leader also condemned the alleged attacks on mosques in Tripura as a retaliation to what happened in Bangladesh.
“What difference will be there between Bangladesh, Pakistan and us (Indians) if we start doing what they do,” TMC general secretary said.
He said that the party will contest in all seats of civic polls in Tripura next month.
“Last time when I came to Tripura to address a rally in 2018, there were atleast 5000 people but only 500 people have turned up in today’s rally because of the restriction of High Court. But, 20,000 people of Tripura are listening to us in different mediums. We want a clean and democratic government in Tripura because the BJP government has been running a ‘jungle Raj’ in Tripura,” Banerjee asserted.
“The Tripura BJP is afraid of us and that why they are creating hurdles to hold rally in Tripura. They have already shaken because they knows very well that in the upcoming Civic polls we will contest and win majority of seats because the people of Tripura are with us,” TMC general secretary said.
Former West Bengal minister Rajib Banerjee and Tripura BJP MLA Ashis Das joined the Trinamool Congress at the rally.
