Trinamool Congress organises candlelight vigil in Shillong in solidarity with people of Nagaland

Shillong, Dec 7: The Meghalaya Unit of All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) on Tuesday expressed solidarity with the people of Nagaland over the loss of 14 precious lives last week in an botched up Army ambush.

The party members a candlelight vigil in Shillong on Tuesday evening to express its sorrow at the killing of 13 civilians in Mon District of Nagaland on December 4, 2021, followed by killing of another civilian the next day when angry mob stormed an Assam Rifles camp over the killings.

Several TMC MLAs took part in the vigil, paying tribute to the bereaved families, who were joined by theirs supporters and general public.

Speaking with journalists, former chief minister Dr. Mukul Sangma said they are here to express their solidarity with the affected families who have been grieving.

“We urge upon all authorities concerned to ensure justice. In this nation, every individual or citizen must have the sense of belongingness and we collectively build this nation, this is the essence of our democracy. Therefore, there should be no space left for any citizen to feel that they are deprived of necessary justice,” he said.
