Agartala, Oct 27: A 44-year-old tribal woman was found dead in her home in Debapur village, under the jurisdiction of the Sidhai police station in West Tripura district.

The deceased, identified as Swapna Oriya of Debapur village, was last seen with her husband, Kanti Debbarma, the previous night. According to Sabyasachi Debnath, Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Mohanpur, Debbarma is currently on the run, and authorities have launched an investigation. “The body has been sent for autopsy,” Debnath added.

The discovery was made around noon when her son, 22-year-old Dilip Oriya, went to check on her after noticing she hadn’t left her room. Upon knocking, he found her lying dead inside and immediately informed the police.

Debnath reported that Swapna’s body had visible injury marks on her face and legs, suggesting foul play. Authorities suspect that Kanti Debbarma, her second husband, may be directly involved in the suspected murder.
