Shillong, April 29: A rubber-laden truck, bearing registration number JK-05-H-0666, caught fire on National Highway-6 near Jyntru Village, Ri Bhoi District, on Monday.
The incident occurred around 2:00 PM when the truck driver and helper parked the vehicle on the side of the highway to rest, but suddenly it caught fire.
Both the truck driver and helper sustained injuries in the incident, with the helper sustaining major injuries.
There is no information regarding the cause of the fire; however, it is suspected to have been caused by an electrical failure in the vehicle’s wiring.
Till filing of this story, the Fire and Emergency Services are working to extinguish the flames.
