Tura beautification faces extensive damage after AHAM writes on walls

Must read

Tura, March 6: Tura’s mega beautification project which has begun to turn the town around giving a glow to the biggest urban centre of Garo Hills has shockingly been damaged because a pressure group called A’chik Holistic and Awakening Movement has painted all kinds of graffiti on newly constructed beautification sites in the just inaugurated Tura Football Stadium in Chandmari. The damaging writings on walls, on newly put up street lights around Tura’s beautification projects was done on Saturday night by members of AHAM who demanded winter capital in Tura, and other demands.

Shockingly, the AHAM wrote in the walls that they want “Equal Development” but goes on to destroy whatever development is being given by painting all forms of graffiti destroying the sceneic beauty of the projects.

What’s even worse is that instead of condemning this action, the AHAM president George Prince Ch Momin goes on facebook to support this damaging nuisance by putting up the photos and claiming it to be a “painting Competition”.

Widespread condemnation of the AHAM and its supporters have started on social media by citizens, not just from Tura but even other parts of garo Hills and beyond.

“Civil remedies of public nuisance are mentioned in Section 91 of Civil Procedure Code, 1908. It states that any wrongful act of a person is affecting the public can be stopped: By taking an injunction against its continuance or any other remedy as the court deems fit,” an angry citizen commented demanding strong action against the AHAM for their destruction of public property.

The District Administration of West Garo Hills has also put up a post in their Facebook page objecting the move of AHAM to damage the beautification project in Tura.

It is to be mentioned that damaging public property is a punishable offence under various provisions of law and the perpetrators can be arrested.
