Tura, May 8: The Tura Inter Mahari Football Association has announced that the popular Inter-Mahari Football tournament will be held in August this year.

The decision was taken at the emergency meeting of the association at Dakopgre in Tura on Thursday. The meeting was convened by Chairman Dolrich Berin Momin, who opened the session with an introductory address.

District Sports Officer of West Garo Hills and Member Secretary, Saljgring M. Marak, briefed the members on the agenda, which included the proposal to conduct the much anticipated Inter Mahari Football Tournament 2025 in the month of August.

Key members present at the meeting included Rupanker K. Marak Divisional Forest Officer East & West Garo Hills Wild Life Division, Tura, Rakkan M. Sangma, Dilseng A. Sangma, and Jesse James R. Marak. The committee unanimously agreed to go ahead with the annual tournament, which has become a major sporting event in the region.

As per the initial plan, the matches up to the quarter finals will be held at the Government Boys’ Playground, Tura while the grand final is scheduled to take place at the prestigious P. A. Sangma Stadium. The tournament is proposed to be held between the last week of July and the first week of August 2025.

In a major highlight, the organisers revealed that efforts are underway to invite prominent Bollywood celebrities to grace the final match, promising a star-studded conclusion to the football fest.

All rules and regulations for the tournament will be finalised once the official dates are confirmed.
