Agartala, Jan 27: Tripura police have taken action against the agitating terminated teachers on the 52nd day of their agitation.
Police this morning took action against terminated teachers who were in a sit-in protest Since December 7 asking the government to give them new jobs.
Police dismantledĀ their peaceful agitation tents and have arrested overĀ a hundred agitators, police sources added.
The terminated 10,323 teachers had served a four-day ultimatum to the Tripura government on Friday and threatened to intensify their protests if it fails to solve the issue related to their termination.
On Wednesday morning a large contingent of Police and paramilitary forces went to the āGana Dharnaā spot and broke their tent. The teachers alleged that some of their leaders were arrested wee hours of Wednesday from their houses.
On Republic day evening theĀ teachers conducted a torch rally at Agartala and declared that on Wednesday they will go to CM to ask him about their future, the administration has imposed section 144 of CrPC in state capital Agartala.
The Supreme Court has ruled that the teachers recruitment between 2010 to 2014 during the left front rule in Tripura was illegal and their jobs were terminated on 31st march last yearsā¦however in the 2018 Tripura polls BJP had made a poll promise to solve their job issue.
After the agitations had started two agitating teachers had committed suicide.
