Guwahati, Dec 16: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Saturday that every year ULFA-I launches this type of small attack to show their presence.
Speaking to reporters, CM Sarma condemned such attacks and clearly stated that due to such activity, the economy of Assam will suffer.
“This was a routine activity of ULFA-I. Every year, such incidents happen in Assam. Such threats from ULFA-I will not indicate anything. This year will end with the lowest activity,” CM Sarma stated.
On the other hand, CM Sarma informed that the state government is aiming to ink a peace deal with the pro-talk faction of the ULFA in December.
“We are aiming to sign a peace accord with the pro-talk faction of the ULFA within this month or at the latest by January next year,” said Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Recently, ULFA-I has carried out three grenade blasts in three locations in upper Assam. But casualties have been reported due to the blasts. All the blasts happened in three upper Assam districts within less than one month.
“To disturb the peaceful atmosphere of Assam and to show their presence, the ULFA-I has done such activity,” said a police source.
