Shillong, April 17: Having listened to the woes of the people facing water scarcity in the area, C&RD Minister and local MLA of Mylliem Constituency, Hamletson Dohling on Saturday inaugurated the Water Conservation Tank at Mawnianglah village, East Khasi Hills.
“It is a joyous moment for the people of Mawnianglah as their long-awaited dream had finally turned into reality with the inauguration of the water tank which will hold upto 148420 litres. The water tank will provide drinking water to hundreds of households at Mawnianglah and also for washing and bathing purpose of the residents”, said Dohling at the inauguration ceremony.
The MLA also appreciated the local residents for their co-operation in donating the land and also for working together with the PHE department in the timely completion of the project.
It may be mentioned that the water conservation tank was build at an amount of Rs 17.50 lakhs under the District Mineral Fund. The total capacity of the tank is 148420 litres.
Others who were present included P T Passah, BDO of Mylliem Block and S Kharkongor, Headman Mawnianglah, amongst others.
