Shillong, Nov 29: Charlie Munger, the longtime friend and business partner of renowned US investor Warren Buffett breathed his last at the age of 99, as confirmed by his employer.
His death marks the end of an era for the close associates who have played significant roles in the world of investing and business.
Munger’s family said that he peacefully died this morning at a California hospital.

“Berkshire Hathaway could not have been built to its present status without Charlie’s inspiration, wisdom and participation,” Warren Buffett said in a statement.
Who was Charlie Munger?
Munger was known for his profound wisdom and insights, frequently sharing his perspectives on various aspects of business and life through speeches and writings.
Munger served for decades as vice chairman under Buffet.
He had joined Buffett at Berkshire Hathaway as vice chairman in 1978.
Munger helped to transform it from a small textile company which now holds a value of more than $780 billion.
Despite his age, he never officially retired from his role at Berkshire Hathaway.
He would have turned 100 on January 1, 2024.
Buffet and Munger met as adults in 1959 their friendship lasted more than 60 years.
He was born and brought up in Omaha, Nebraska.
