Guwahati, May 30: In a major achievement, 2,000 graduates of the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) have been placed in leading companies. To celebrate this landmark feat, the university felicitated the successful students on Friday.

The event saw a distinguished gathering, including Prof. Vimal Katiyar, Former Dean of Research and Development, IIT Guwahati, and Mahbubul Hoque, Chancellor, USTM. They were joined by Pro Vice Chancellor Padma Shri Sarbeswar Sahariah, along with faculty and staff from USTM.

This year’s placement drive marks a significant success, with students recruited by prestigious organizations such as Accenture, Amul, Rajasthan Grameen Aajeevika Vikas Parishad (Department of Rural Development, Government of Rajasthan), and Marico Ltd. Notably. The highest package offered was Rs. 13.58 LPA by Federal Bank.

Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque emphasized the importance of career stability, while Chief Guest Prof. Vimal Katiyar commended the students for attracting top-tier recruiters.

The ceremony featured the presentation of certificates and tokens of appreciation, alongside inspiring speeches from university leaders and guests.

Students shared their positive experiences, with Afreen Islam stating, “The Training and Placement Cell has always taken good care of us. This job will always be close to my heart.” Sauramita Paul added, “I am thankful to the training and placement cell for all their guidance to make that difference for us.”

Since its inception, USTM has placed 2,000 students in reputable companies, exceeding initial benchmarks. This celebration not only recognized individual accomplishments but also underscored USTM’s vital role in preparing future leaders across various industries.
