Shillong, Oct 2: An earthquake of moderate intensity of magnitude 5.2 hit North Garo Hills on Monday evening.
The quake hit at around 6.15 PM.
The epicentre of the tremor was near Resubelpara, at a depth of 10 kms.

“Earthquake of Magnitude:5.2, Occurred on 02-10-2023, 18:15:18 IST, Lat: 25.90 & Long: 90.57, Depth: 10 Km, Location: North Garo Hills, Meghalaya, India,” tweeted National Centre for Seismology.
However, the tremors were felt in parts of Assam, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan.
Within a few hours of the tremor, reports have come forward regarding cracks developing on the walls of some houses in North Garo Hills, the epicentre of the quake. The effect of the earthquake was such that products from the shelves fell to the ground in a supermarket in Tura while the customers were left terrified.
