Shillong, Mar 8: Agriculture & Farmer’s Welfare Minister Banteidor Lyngdoh on Tuesday informed that a total of 632 power tillers have been sanctioned for distribution to farmers across the state.
Replying in the Assembly, Lyngdoh said that the cost of each power tiller is at Rs 2.20 lakh and the subsidy provided to the farmers is Rs 90,000.
He assured that the subsidy will continue.
Lyngdoh also informed that four power tillers have been provided to the farmers under Mawsynram Block from 2018 to 2021.
He also assured that the government would be assisting eligible local farmers under Mawsynram Block with the power tillers.
AITC legislator from Mawsynram Himalaya Shangpliang expressed disappointment that only 4 power tillers were given to farmers under the Mawsynram Block and urged the minister to consider providing more power tillers to the farmers of the area.
He also informed that a total 148 power tillers have been sanctioned for South Garo Hills during 2019 and 2020.
