Guwahati, March 23: The Assam police on Wednesday arrested two Bhutanese nationals in Guwahati for allegedly embezzling money from farmers in Assam.

The suspects, identified as Darji Bungsu and Sering Pengo, are accused of taking lakhs of rupees from the farmers.

The suspects claimed that they were not at fault since their CEO owned the entire company.

“We have arrested both of them and started investigation. Right now we can’t say much about the case,” a police officer informed.

According to reports, the suspects purchased rice from Assam and sold it in Bhutan at a much higher price without paying the farmers their rightful dues for almost a year.
