Assam: BJP to launch ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra’ from Feb 28 ahead of Assembly polls

Guwahati, Feb 23: Stepping up its outreach ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, the BJP’s Assam unit will launch its ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra’ from February 28.

Announcing the programme, state BJP president Dilip Saikia said the yatra aims to take the party’s vision, achievements and organisational roadmap to the grassroots.

The first phase of the yatra will run from February 28 to March 9, covering 34 Assembly constituencies.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will formally flag off the campaign from Gupteshwar Devalaya in Dhekiajuli. On the inaugural day, the yatra will pass through the Dhekiajuli, Barsola, Tezpur, Naduar and Rongapara constituencies.

Cabinet Minister Ashok Singhal has been appointed chief convenor of the programme, while Union Minister and MP Pabitra Margherita, along with other senior leaders, will serve as co-convenors.

According to party leaders, the yatra will travel approximately 70–80 km daily and aims to reach nearly one lakh people each day. In subsequent phases, it will cover constituencies in Morigaon, Nagaon, Gohpur, Bihpuria, Dhemaji, Jonai, Tingkhong, Naharkatia, Golaghat, Digboi, Tinsukia, Nalbari and Rangia, among other parts of the state, with designated leaders overseeing each segment.
