Dibrugarh, Dec 6: The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Friday launched its ambitious statewide outreach initiative, “Raijor Podulit, Raijor Congress,” introducing “Aspirational Boxes” to gather public opinion and build a people-driven manifesto ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
The campaign was formally inaugurated in Dibrugarh in the presence of senior party leaders, community organisations, and grassroots representatives. APCC President Gaurav Gogoi, Manifesto Committee Chairman Pradyut Bordoloi, Senior Vice President Pranati Phukan, former ministers Prithvi Majhi and Paban Singh Ghatowar, and District President Bipul Rabha jointly rolled out the initiative.
A wide range of organisations from Eastern Assam—including the Asom Chah Karmachari Parishad, Indian Red Cross Society, Lion’s Club Dibrugarh, All Assam Small Tea Growers Association, Koch Rajbanshi Sammelan, Bar Association Dibrugarh, Tai Ahom Yuva Parishad, Sonowal Kachari groups, and several youth, tea, and cultural bodies—participated in the launch.

Manifesto Committee Chairman Pradyut Bordoloi, speaking at the event, said the Congress is committed to producing a manifesto that genuinely reflects the aspirations of every community in Assam.
“This initiative is not just for an election; it is for the future. We want people’s voices to be heard and meaningfully represented,” Bordoloi said.
He added that Congress workers will engage with citizens across diverse sectors to gather concerns ranging from wages and employment to youth welfare and quality of life.
During the inaugural event, APCC leaders also held informal consultations with community groups to collect feedback on organisational functioning and ways to strengthen grassroots outreach.
APCC President Gaurav Gogoi said the party is now focused on expanding its growing organisational presence across Assam, noting that health camps were launched in tea garden areas on November 30, followed by door-to-door interactions beginning December 6.
By the end of December, APCC teams—divided into five regional groups—will undertake a statewide Yatra across Eastern Assam, Central Assam, Western Assam, Barak Valley, and the Hill Districts. They will engage directly with farmers, labourers, contractors, youth, and other sections of society.
“We want to meet people from all walks of life and understand their everyday realities,” Gogoi said.

He also criticised the current government, remarking, “It feels like a time of monarchy—the Dispur king acts on whims. Even basic services like 108 ambulances or polytechnics face suspensions over minor issues. We want to serve the people, not rule over them.”
Gogoi noted that opposition parties, after their alliance meeting on November 12, plan to hold a joint convention in January to present a united vision for Assam.
Over the coming weeks, Congress workers at the booth, mandal, and district levels will place more than 4,000 Aspirational Boxes at key public locations—including markets, community halls, tea garden labour lines, bus stops, playgrounds, and educational institutions—where citizens can drop written suggestions on issues they want addressed.
The launch comes amid several persistent challenges in Assam, including unfulfilled promises of a flood-free state, tea workers still earning Rs 250 instead of the promised higher wage, pending ST status for six communities, high maternal mortality, incidents of child trafficking, inadequate rural health services, rising school dropout rates, and increasing human–wildlife conflict.
AICC General Secretary and APCC in-charge Jitendra Singh will oversee coordination to ensure effective state-wide implementation. The Congress leadership said the campaign’s central aim is to develop a “People’s Manifesto” that reflects the real-life concerns, hopes, and aspirations of Assam’s diverse population.
