Boko, Jan 9: Panic gripped Singra-Palahpara in Boko as a herd of nearly 30 wild elephants stormed into human settlements in search of food, leaving a trail of destruction over the past three to four days.
The elephants, straying from nearby forested areas, have been moving in groups across villages, damaging crops and property.
Local residents, along with forest department officials, have been making continuous efforts to drive the herd back into the forest, but the situation remains tense.
According to eye witnesses, the elephants have been roaming the area relentlessly, creating fear among villagers who are forced to remain indoors after dusk. The forest department has deployed teams to monitor the movement of the herd and to prevent further damage.
Authorities have assured that measures are being taken to mitigate the crisis, but villagers continue to face sleepless nights as the herd shows no signs of retreat.
